This ideal location means that restaurants, groceries and the bank are just a few minutes away and yet the surrounding neighborhood is quiet and the beach uncrowded.

Placencia's beautiful beach is a major draw to this small sea side town at the tip of the peninsula. This photograph taken from the balcony of the guest house shows the sandy path to the beach and the view of the Caribbean sea.

The Guesthouse is a two-story, eight-room house with four shared bathrooms. The pleasant rooms are inviting and clean, and come complete with fans, refrigerator and free wireless internet. There is a kitchen equipped with a microwave, stove and refrigerator for guest use.

Lydia also has two fully furnished private cabanas just behind the guest house and an apartment on the ground floor of her residence.

Lydia's Guesthouse was started in 1990 by Mr. Villenueva who named the accommodation after his wife Lydia. He was a local fisherman and tour guide who saw the need for a small guesthouse. Lydia is a delight: full of hospitality and hard work. She is always seeking to improve her property and is a participant on the "Environmental Walk-Through Program" to make her accommodations conform to the Rainforest Alliance sustainable tourism program. She has been involved in tourism in the village and served on the local village council. Her laughter is contagious and she is a prime example of genuine Belizean hospitality.
